One of our favorite ways to pass the time was munching on Jelly Belly's while we watched the ships glide up and down the river on River Street.
Went for a morning swim to find that we were not alone.
Thayne is always insisting on bringing home animals. No, he did not keep OR eat this turtle.
This little baby bird was struggling to fly so Thayne grabbed it to show the kids.
This was our pet lizard, Stevie. Yes, he did come home with us at the end of the summer (along with another lizard Thayne caught the very last minute we were leaving to come home). They are now the happy pets of a woman Thayne works with.
Marine Education Center and Aquarium
Lexi is bolder than I am.
Okefenokee
Petting the snake, and they all pet it...GROSS...
I think she said this alligator was around 4 years old. They grow very slowly.
Train ride...where we saw no alligators :( Oh well. It was still fun.
We loved going over to the pond in our complex and feeding the turtles.
He is such a loving little boy :)
St Simon's Island for a Father's Day on the beach. Our kids discovered that Superman ice cream is the best!
I loved that they finally got so comfortable with the ocean and waves that they would sit in it and let the waves wash over them.
By far, my favorite beach: Hilton Head, SC. Just GORGEOUS!The water at this splash pad just off the beach at Hilton Head was sooo warm.
Occasionally, it was better for me if I slept on the floor next to Diesel ;)
I tried. I really, really tried to be festive for the 4th of July. But, I just couldn't pull myself out of my mental slump. We were supposed to be heading home for the summer around the beginning of July, but we had to revise our plans. That meant staying out in Savannah for an unknown additional amount of time. To say the least, I was bummed and underprepared to be away from home for anything longer than 8 weeks.
Hey, he likes being naked.
Savannah showed me some love that night. Just before the fireworks, on the busy (shoulder to shoulder) River street, I found this little gem being trampled. I snatched it up and pocketed it :)We had been working and working and working with Taylor to just swim with her lifejacket ONLY. She absolutely refused.
And then...she suddenly just DID IT!!! Yay! No more blowing up 3 floaties. Ah...
Can I just say Lexi is braver than I am? She loved catching these frogs.
We stumbled across a summer deal going on. Every Tuesday (or whatever day it was), a specific movie theatre would offer popcorn, a drink and a movie for $2/person! Score! Cheapest movie of my life.
So, there we were just trying to enjoy life at church free of kids when bam! We get asked to substitute for the Sunbeams the remainder of the time we were there. It was actually fun :) And, our kids made up half the class hehe...
We also loved riding the free ferry across the river. It was loud and hot, but it was a free ferry ride!
We discovered the Fun Zone. It was basically like the Fun Park in Logan, except 5 times bigger.
Ha ha ha ha ha ok this was the difference between my tan and Thayne's tan. Thayne saw this couple and said, "Is that what we look like (tan wise) when we walk next to each other?" "Yup, it is baby." I couldn't help it; I had to take a picture!
Roundhouse Railroad Museum. It will be cooler to visit once they actually extend the tracks, so they can do an actual train ride to somewhere.
And that, folks, takes us all the way to the beginning of August. See ya maƱa!
